JOB DETAILS:
The Umeme Staff SACCO was founded and registered in Feb. 2015 under the Cooperative Act cap 112 with Registration No 11061/RCS to provide members with the opportunity to Save and access loans to develop and improve their economic and social status. In August 2022, it transformed to a Multipurpose cooperative hence providing it with an opportunity to diversify and venture in different sound business opportunities. The Cooperative is seeking for competent and self-driven individual for the Position of General Manager.

Job Summary:
The General Manager (GM) shall be the Cooperative’s main administrative officer and will oversee the day-to-day operations. Reporting to: Board Chairman

Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day operations.
• Design strategy and set goals for growth.
• Manage the overall operational budgeting and financial responsibilities of the cooperative.
• Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally. • Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance.
• Direct the employee assessment process.
• Prepare and propose to the Board policies and policy changes, practices, and procedure manuals, and ensure their enforcement and periodic update.

• Prepare regular reports for the Board.
• Implement the Annual General Meeting decisions, as well as recommendations made by the Supervisory Committee, External auditors, and Registrar.
• Formulate strategies and direction to drive Key performance indicators like profitability, service delivery, employee management among others.

Knowledge, Qualifications, and experience
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting/finance, or related field
• Master’s degree in business administration or management (Added Advantage)
• Professional qualification (Completed exams or as a finalist of CPA, CIMA, CIFA, ACCA) is an added advantage.
• 8 years’ working experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory role (preferably financial institution)
• Experience in Cooperative processes, products, and systems. Experience in dealing with different stakeholder at different levels both internal and external.
