JOB TITLE : Senior Business Development Officer

SUBJECT DESCRIPTION
JOB PURPOSE
To develop and implement marketing & sales strategies that shall lead to a growth in client numbers on all College programmes/activities and an increase in revenue, through marketing intelligence, research & lead generations that shall provide long-term value to the College.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Develop business and marketing policies, strategies and plans in coordination with the relevant Heads of departments.
ii. Scan the business environment within & outside the insurance sector in order to identify potential sales opportunities.
iii. Establish strong strategic business partnerships that shall impact on growing the College services.
iv. Prepare and submit business proposals for new and existing clients and follow up for their success.
v. Maintain an updated repository of clients, referrals, prospects and presentations.
vi. Participate in company promotional activities, industry forums, client meetings and conferences as a representative of the College.
vii. Build strong relationships with the College’s clients/partners through regular communication and in-person meetings.
viii. Recommend relevant products or training programs that can be developed to meet the knowledge gap for our industry membership.
ix. Liaise with the relevant member associations in the industry to identify their training needs to support the drafting of the annual training calendar.
x. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual business development reports, including detailed analysis of sales trends and future projections.

i. Timely reports submitted monthly, quarterly & annually
ii. Growth of participants on College programmes/activities
iii. Number of new strategic partnerships acquired
iv. Growth in new programmes/initiatives developed
v. Innovative business & marketing strategies implemented
vi. Growth in College revenue
vii. Excellent relationships with key stakeholders/partners
viii. Updated business & marketing policies & strategies
ix. Number of business proposals prepared & submitted
x. An updated database of clients, referrals & prospects

REQUIREMENT 
Minimum Education Qualification
• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business or Marketing OR a Postgraduate Diploma in Business administration or Marketing for those with a non-related bachelor’s degree
• A partial or completed professional qualification in Marketing is a requirement.
• A qualification in insurance is an added advantage

Work Experience
• At least five (5) years of relevant work experience in a reputable organization. Three (3) of these must have been directly in sales or marketing.
• Experience working with a training unit or institution will be of added advantage.
• Experience working in the insurance sector shall be of added advantage.

• Strong negotiation & presentation skills
• Proficiency in use of marketing tools & social media platforms
• Relationship management skills
• Confident with in-depth product development knowledge
